Do you remember your first guitar? Who doesn’t? Mine was a blue Blue stratocaster looking Oscar Schmidt Washburn. I eventually sold it. It was one of those moments in my life that I immediately regretted. I honestly don’t even remember who I sold it to. The guitar I however that I consider my first guitar is actually my second. It’s my Simon & Patrick acoustic. It’s loud and somewhat annoying and has started to show some signs of wear and tear recently. I love that guitar. It’s got a lot of songs in it and hopefully it has some more. I actually went a long time with that being the only guitar in my company, until the band in which I was the singer broke up and I needed something to write some new songs for a band (that I’m still working on putting together, join me?) so I bought a frankensteined together Les Paul looking thing. This guitar that I simply call Frank, is lets just say in rough shape. It’s only got a bridge pick up, and a volume knob, the input jack is held together and clings onto the guitar via masking tape. About a year ago I bought a tobacco burst telecaster, however it was merely a fling between the two of us and couldn’t get a sound that I liked out of it, so it was kicked to the curb and sold to a man in a Safeway parking lot. Which leaves me with Frank as my go to electric for jamming thinking that maybe I’m just supposed to play that dude until he dies, and then it happened! I fell in love….with a Gretsch Black Falcon. It plays amazingly and sounds beautiful. The only downfall of it is the price tag. Love has a price I guess. That being said Valentines Day is this Sunday and I’ve always been a big fan of the movie style big showings of love, soooo if any of you ladies have a crush on me and are thinking of a way to show it, pick me up a Black Falcon and I’ll let you buy me dinner.
